Alloy 1.4462: Duplex Stainless Steel


Alloy 1.4462 is a duplex stainless steel alloy consisting of a combination of austenite and ferrite phases. This alloy offers excellent corrosion resistance in a variety of environments, including saline and sulfide-rich environments.


Chemical Composition

Chromium: 22.0–23.0%

Molybdenum: 3.0–3.5%

Nickel: 4.5–6.5%

Nitrogen: 0.10–0.22%

Iron: Balance

Properties

High Corrosion Resistance: Alloy 1.4462 offers excellent corrosion resistance in environments such as seawater, acidic solutions, and chlorine-containing environments.

Good Mechanical Properties: Alloy 1.4462 offers high strength and hardness, combined with good toughness and ductility.

Good weldability: This alloy welds well and is therefore suitable for a wide range of applications.

Heat treatment

Alloy 1.4462 can be annealed at temperatures of 1020–1100°C, followed by quenching in water or air. Heat treatment improves the alloy's strength and corrosion resistance.
